Multi-Reader Sharing brings data discipline to collaborative workflows

Multi-Reader Sharing establishes a workflow with data discipline allowing multiple team members to pull assets from a single source of truth, all at Thunderbolt speeds sustained performance while fully encrypted. This new feature is now available on all Pro Datas with the recent 1.5 firmware update.

Data discipline is a term we’ve been usingin our team duringthe creation of Multi-Reader Sharing. It’s theanswerto the chaos of the massive amounts of digitaldata that productions generate on a daytoday basis. We are constantly thinking about ways to move datanot only fasterbutmoreefficientlyand more securely, simplifying management and protecting assets

As the content game continues racing towardsexponential growth, file sizes are becoming huge, and the delivery expectations tighter and tighter. New features that enforce a disciplined workflow without compromising speed or securityenable you to work smarterand unlock even more ofyour creativity, even as you meet these new production challenges.

In the 1.5 firmware update, Pro Data’s unique Containers now combinewithournew“Multi-ReaderSharing”feature to power collaborative, multi-platform workflows

Multi-Reader Sharing avoidsduplicatecopies andversionsof assets, protects against therisk of overwriting OCFs and OCNs orcorrupting files, and the overall messiness that comes with large data sets. Combining Containers with Multi-Reader Sharingmaintainsa clean and organized data space for collaboration, while delivering all assets at maximum speed.

Designed based uponconversations with our most demanding customers, Multi-Reader Sharing canmake a big difference for:

  • Workgroups with multiple editors assembling different parts of a project, tapping into the same OCFs.
  • Time-sensitive projects for high profile clients that require the utmost security of the creative assets.
  • Kicking off multiple simultaneous transcodes immediately after ingest with zero-copy.
  • Branching multiple workflows usinga single-source of data.

How it works:

  • Ingest your footage into a Read/Write container. Flip it effortlessly into Multi-Reader read-only mode, preserving your raw assets and data structure.
  • Share a container withup to four users per Pro Data, allaccessing itat the same time.
  • Expand your capacity and performance by daisy-chaining multiple Pro Data units together.
  • Remember, Pro Data’s end-to-end encryption is on, already on, always on. You didn’t have to do any complex configuration to set it up.
  • Up to 9 streams of 8K playback per Pro Data. No compromise Thunderbolt speeds. This is one morearea in which Pro Data really excels. Put it to the test over and over again and see howthe steady multistream playback performance holds up.
All this cansave you a bunch of time and headache, so you can focus on being creative…or go get more sleep.

Multi-Reader Sharing is now available for all existing customers. And will be available for Windows support in a future update.
