An ambitious alternative

The IBC Show has become a kind of homecoming for us. Year after year, we make our way back to Amsterdam, catch up with familiar faces, and meet plenty of new ones along the way. It’s one of our favorite weeks on the calendar. The energy on the show floor, the conversations that spark new ideas, and our traditional family dinner are reminders of just how many talented people are out there solving hard problems in production and post.

At IBC Show 2026, iodyne showed how smart storage can be at the edge. Security, portability, speed, and capacity are all vital to production workflows, especially when crews leave the comfort zone of a home base. But teams have often had to compromise on one to get the others. Across our booth and our partner booths in Amsterdam, we presented how iodyne’s hardware and software work together to close that gap, keeping every drive encrypted, fast, and fully manageable at every stop between the set and the archive.

Alec Cohen-Schisler from ProVideo Coalition frames the shift this way: most portable drives “remain surprisingly passive,” while iodyne’s approach at IBC2026 was “a more ambitious alternative.

That’s what own your data at the edge means in the context of production. Teams stay in charge of where footage lives and who can touch it.

  • Every Pro Mini and Pro Data drive runs XTS-AES-256 encryption at all times, with keys secured inside a hardware Secure Enclave.
  • Encryption is paired with speed and capacity; it doesn’t force trade-offs.
  • iodyne Cloud Fleet Management and iOS app let you decide exactly who can access what, and provide oversight so you’re never guessing where a drive is or whether a job is finished.

RedShark’s IBC2026 show-floor guide sums up Pro Data’s 192TB capacity and four-computer connectivity in one line: “it’s what happens when someone looks at a pile of external SSDs and decides “there has to be a better way.”

Hardware and software, working as one system

The core of the IBC2026 showcase was to demonstrate how iodyne’s hardware and software act as one system, built to plug directly into the tools you already use.

Pro Mini connects over a 40Gbps USB4/Thunderbolt USB-C port and works across macOS, Windows, Linux, phones, cameras, and tablets, so it drops into existing camera and post-production setups without asking anyone to change their workflow.

At the show, that showed up as a fully connected pipeline: Pro Mini and Pro Data devices handled capture, ingest, and archive, while the iodyne iOS app and iodyne Cloud gave teams visibility and control over every device in the production chain.

Pro Mini and iodyne Cloud demos shown

iOS App

  • View assigned projects and devices at a glance
  • Unlock Pro Minis directly from your phone with NFC Tap to Unlock
  • Access workflow metadata on the go
  • Watchlist: monitor ingest or transcode jobs in real time — step away from the cart and see when a job finishes

iodyne Cloud & Fleet Management

  • Manage an entire fleet of devices from one place
  • Organize devices and personnel by project
  • Set granular access permissions and control who can reach specific Containers — when you add a new person, choose their access level
  • Configure labels and Containers fleet-wide
  • NFC stickers and tagging: bring third-party drives and equipment into your inventory system
  • Find My (Apple + Google networks): track devices as they move between locations

Security & Compliance, Made Easy

  • Remote management and device tracking
  • Secure erasure on demand (coming soon)
  • Certificates of destruction for compliance records (coming soon)
  • Full audit trails for every action (coming soon)

Together, these features mean IT and information-security requirements can be satisfied without turning every camera assistant, DIT, or editor into a storage administrator.

Beyond our booth: iodyne across the show floor

Adobe with iodyne Pro Mini Smart Drive

iodyne’s presence at IBC2026 extended well beyond our own booth.

We co-exhibited with Hedge, and celebrated their 10th year in the business, together. iodyne devices ran a full capture-to-archive pipeline pairing Hedge’s OffShoot, Canister, EditReady, Canopy, and Mimiq with iodyne Pro Data and Pro Mini.

Over at Adobe, iodyne powered workflows across Premiere and After Effects, including native-resolution grading inside Premiere’s new Color Mode. iodyne’s Michael Gitig observed: “Adobe trainers could immediately see how this enables Creators to complete a project from start to finish, and gives them control.” More insights on pairing iodyne and Adobe here.

At RED Digital Cinema, Pro Data supported live, fast, and secure R3D RAW workflows.

And at Cintegral Technologies, Pro Mini anchored their connectivity showcase for the European market.

That interoperability of one drive, moving between capture, color, ingest, and archive without a hitch, is the advantage iodyne’s hardware and software brought to the show: creators should be able to own and secure their data at the edge without letting storage management interrupt the creative work.

A big face-to-face event like the IBC Show is also a preview of how we work: We like solving complex workflow problems; we are your data partner, ready to sit down with your team and shape a solution around your project. So whether you made it to the IBC Show or not, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us about your workflow, and we’d be happy to chat! Connect with our team at [email protected].
